Somerset Sight have been in touch with us, seeking volunteers.
Somerset Sight is a charity that introduces volunteers to visually impaired people (beneficiaries) for companionship and to help with tasks such as reading correspondence, writing letters and cards. The volunteers also take people out, maybe to a garden centre or park for a walk or a cup of tea or coffee or maybe to do a little shopping – or sometimes just for a chat and a cuppa at home.
Due to the current situation with Covid-19 all of the volunteers have been phoning, not only their own beneficiary but also others who have been referred to Somerset Sight from various agencies. Many of those who have been referred for phone calls would love to have a volunteer visitor of their own once we they are able to meet in person again so now Somerset sight are seeking additional volunteers to be able to deliver more support.

We are a long established local charity covering the whole of Somerset and have visually impaired Service users all over the County just waiting to meet someone like you.
Our Volunteer Visiting Service provides an invaluable lifeline to many lonely and isolated people who may otherwise not see anyone from one weeks end to another and a friendly face once a week or once a fortnight can make an enormous difference to someone’s life
