Devon Wildlife Trust are working on an exciting project to introduce more Pine Martens on Exmoor in 2025 and help restore the balance of nature in our area.

After nearly two years of working with experts and local communities to understand the potential impacts of pine martens on other native wildlife, farming and commercial interests, and woodland management. They have identified release sites in Dartmoor and Exmoor National Parks. The first animals were released on Dartmoor in autumn 2024, with more releases being planned on Exmoor in 2025.

In light of this, the Trust has held a series of events locally to discuss the project. They also have opportunities for volunteering and some resources and activities on their website, along with answers to FAQS that people may have about the release.
