SALC (the Somerset Association of Local Councils) are working with Somerset Council, and other partners, to help support Somerset’s City, Town and Parish Councils to actively engage in and deliver, Health and Wellbeing projects locally.
Health and Wellbeing is a broad subject area with many possible activity proposals. The 11 headings, listed in the infographic below are an indication of the kind of matters that can help people improve their physical and mental health as well as a sense of wellbeing and belonging. So a project might involve:
- Bringing people together to share food and be sociable.
- Support or activities for young people or older people.
- Tackling transport issues in a rural parish.
- Helping establish a walking or cycling group.
- Bringing in experts for financial or other advice
- Setting up art, drama or music groups

SALC are hoping to encourage long lasting projects. and have the following grants available of up to:
- £1500 Seed Grants – to scope out ideas
- £2500 Small Grants for smaller projects or smaller councils
- £35,000 Large Grants for large Councils or a group of Councils working together
In light of this, Luccombe Parish Council are calling on local residents to suggest ideas for schemes that could improve the health and wellbeing of local residents and would be interested to hear your comments. You can contact us via the contact form on this website or contact one of our local councillors directly with an idea using the contact details found at the bottom of our Parish Council page.
