There was a bit of drama on Stoney Street in Luccombe last Thursday 25th June at 5:30pm when a round hay baling machine caught fire in the field at the bottom of our garden.
I was out grocery shopping when the drama unfolded but my son James witnessed it all and took the first photo below left. I took the second one of it being extinguished when I arrived home. The baler went up very quickly and the hay bale inside it caught fire. A quick thinking neighbour called 999 and the fire brigade were on the scene within minutes with three fire engines – two from Minehead and one from Porlock. The crews, wearing breathing apparatus – extinguished the fire using two hose reel jets.

Ali- Thanks for posting the story & images. It is nice to know that we still have a local fire station at Porlock.
